Tax reform 2021: A significant change for a country or a lie behind a name, Sofia Hidalgo, May 2021.

This article will deal with topics of vital importance to understand the current context of the country, about the reform proposal, its pro-cons and what it seeks to cover, causes, consequences, and repercussions for what we have: Tax reform 2021: a significant change for the country or a lie behind a name?

Every day it is evident that millions of citizens come and go in search of opportunities to live, rather to "survive" as expressed by various online surveys, since employment is scarcely present in the country, factors such as supply and supply. Demand most of the time they go up and down and that causes lack of control, and many media affirm that the causes of this are the international relations of the country, the communications between the state and the citizens, however none of the above compares with the most unfavorable: the corruption.

Corruption has always been the low point of this country since the beginning of the 50's when the violence was very marked and now has repercussions in the 21st century. As societies have been changing and have become more critical and eager to suggest, there have been various disputes between the government and the people, in which the state has been looking for alternatives to "help the population and help the government with a method of win-win "but it is not like that and it can be evidenced in the new reform nicknamed as:" law of sustainable solidarity ".

The name is attractive; however, the proposals are definitely not, it is advisable that they are not guided by the title of the tax reform. This reform was influenced by the Covid -19 pandemic as well, since the country's economy has entered an exponential decline with respect to employment, salaries, income, and expenses not only from the government's pocket, especially from citizens. It is understandable that it is a strategy to get the country out of the crisis it is going through, but it has not been in the correct way, since it is totally verifiable that the reform will raise the values of prices above what is legitimate with respect to the basic salary of an Average Colombian for what would be a scam and the only ones who would lose out would be the citizens.

The so-called Sustainable Solidarity Law will seek the collection of $ 25 billion pesos through multiple channels, among which are the collection of the Value Added Tax (VAT) and the increase in Colombian income tax payers. This tax will increase the interest from 3% to 19% without increasing any economic income of the citizen, in addition to applying not only to people who are in force of work, but also to pensioners, which would be an abuse in transportation, mobility, education, PUBLIC SERVICES and health, which is vital in these times of pandemic, which is why 70% of many critics classify that it would be the grave that Colombia has not had since the 90s in the economic sphere.

An example that explicitly explains what this increase can produce in various areas is the one that affects the purchase of devices for daily use through online connections as a result of the pandemic: Colombians who wish to purchase some technological products will also have to make an effort in its economy, since the tax reform proposes to put VAT on items such as cell phones, computers and tablets.

Finally, it is important to emphasize that the fact that the National Government has established its model of reform for the tax system in the country, does not mean that it is already decided that these regulations will go into effect in Colombia. This document must go through debates in the Congress of the Republic, where the viability of the project for the national economy will be analyzed and adjustments are made to it, if so, considered by the congressmen.
